Designing with Etsy’s Color of the Year
Etsy has proudly announced that in the upcoming year of 2024 they will be entering their “Romantic Era” and is inviting all of us to join them. They kicked off this year of romance by announcing “Berry” as their color of the year. Berry is a play on the pink trend that has been on going since the release of the Barbie movie.
For some time now different design companies, most notably Pantone and Sherwin Williams (to name a few) have made it an event each year to receive their un veiling emails for their own “Color of the Year” award for the next year. Etsy joined the bandwagon a few years ago and it is always interesting to see what they pick, especially since they cover both fashion and home decor industries, unlike Pantone and Sherwin Williams which are Fashion and Home Decor respectively.
How to Shop BERRY on Etsy
If you have tried to search Berry on Etsy since this announcement you will have noticed that it is quite literal in it results. Berries are a popular decoration for the Holiday season and the trendy color of the year has yet to make it into all the key words of the Etsy sellers yet. That being said, as your resident Etsy Interior Design guru, I have put together a shopping list for you to add some touches of this 2024 design trend to your home.
Now Etsy is considering Berry to be a relaxing version of the hot pink that we saw everywhere in 2024. And while, yes it is comparatively, be careful. Berry is rich and too much richness can become exhausting if not done in a proper proportion. Consider the strength of the color when applying it to walls, large objects in the room etc. Your may need to balance it with adding a grounding black or soften it by adding a warm white.
