Today is day 1 of my spending detox.
Yesterday I took the time to go through my refrigerator, cleaned it out and prepped a whole bowl of salad for the upcoming weeks lunches. By the way, if you don’t own a <a href="http://Cuisinart CTG-00-SAS Salad Spinner, Green and Whitesalad spinner, I highly recommend getting one. It makes prepping my salads so much easier. It is also a lot less expensive to buy lettuce by the head, cut it and wash it yourself rather than buying it in those ready made bags. Plus if you put a paper towel in the container that you store your salad it will help it last a lot longer.

As with most good intentions, my plans got derailed. Today was also the first day that I was back at work. Our new store in the summit mall is just a few days away from opening and today was the first day our crew was back together. For the past several weeks we had been scattered around to various stores awaiting the new store being ready for us. Since it had been a while since we were all back together, everyone wanted to go to lunch.
So, I decided to use up one of my days out and join the crew for lunch. I was very good ordering something that that was relatively cheap and kept me below my $20 budget for eating out. But now that I ate out today that only leaves me with one more eat out this week. That will be tomorrow evening when I meet up with a friend I haven’t seen in a couple month. This will be a little trickier seeing as we are going to a brewery restaurant and I will definitely want a beer.
Tonight I am planning on using up some zucchini and squash that I received from a friends garden. There should be plenty left over for me to reheat it again during the week. That will help with not eating out anymore until next week.
So besides the needed cat food, which my cat will argue as a necessity; day 1 I ended up spending a little over $12 with tip. Now if I can make it to the end of the week with only spending $32 of extra money, I will be very happy for my first week.
