Just over a week ago, I went on a little excursion with one of my coworkers to some great antique / vintage / thrift shops in Canton and North Canton Ohio. We ventured down south (about 30 minutes) to try and find some items for her clients. We hit 6 places, all uniquely different and full of fun finds.
Stop 1: 2nd Hand Treasures – This place had a ton of vintage and almost vintage furniture and decor. Everything from sofa’s to tables to lamps and artwork. Unfortunately I did not take any pictures of this stop, but they do have a decent amount of photos on their facebook page.

Stop 2: Arrowhead Vintage & Handmade Goods Okay, this place was dangerous for me. I loved almost everything in there. Very unique vintage and handmade items. I wasn’t looking to buy anything for myself but I ended up walking out with a very cool floral 1960/70s house coat and a 80’s teal green blazer.

Stop 3: Marshall’s Antique Warehouse When they say warehouse, they mean warehouse. This old manufacturing building had been turned into a treasure trove of antiques, salvage materials and great vintage finds. I really wish I had a home of my own to get some of their pieces, like the vintage cast iron bath tubs. There were some beautiful vintage lamps, furniture and house ware items.

Stop 4: Buckeye Salvage This place feels like it just keeps going and going. Unlike some of the other places this is a true salvage yard. Word to the wise, don’t wear sandals. I would have explored a little more if I was wearing the proper footwear as there are just rooms and rooms of doors and toilets, kitchen cabinets, windows etc etc etc, that are piled up. When I go to make my salvage window greenhouse, this is definitely the place I will go to get the windows.

You can also get a variety of smalls. I ended up finding a little jar to put my sugar in for quests that has a nice little lid that closes tightly so the sugar is safe from any unwanted pests. Plus it matches my white tea pot!
Stop 5: Rt. 43 Antique Mall We accidentally drove past this one because it is in the middle of more a a residential area and looks like an old motel that was repurposed as an antique mall. There are rooms and rooms of items that are very unique. I personally loved the variety of larges and smalls. If you are looking for more of the vintage finds, this is a place for you. Old cameras, vintage jewelry and clothes, retro toys and antique furniture all can be found under this one roof.

Stop 6: One Vintage Lane Originally this place was not on our shopping list, but it caught my eye on our drive back up north and we turned around and went in. Not only did we finally find something for my coworker’s client, we found one of the cutest vintage shops in the area. If you have trouble picturing how to use your vintage finds creatively, this is the place for you. She sets up the shop in more of a vignetted way so you can visualize tables with chairs and accessories all together. I may head back there soon to pick up one of the birdcages I fell in love with.

Buying second hand, vintage, salvage and antiques is a great way to design and live sustainably. Its not only great for the environment (which is one of my passions in life) but its also great for your pocket book!
Please let me know if you stop by any of these stores. I’d love to hear what you think and see your great finds!
