A couple weeks ago I had the unfortunate task of finding all my w2’s for the last 5 or 6 years. I thought that I was very organized with my tax information. I have a folder in the filing cabinet labeled taxes and thought that I filed everything in there. But I was wrong. I looked inside and found only 2 of the years and realized I need to go on hunt for the rest.
After 3 or 4 days of trying to search when I had a free moment, finally I was able to gather up the rest. Not before having to go through stacks of paperwork that I intended to file, or intended to go through at some point in time. All placed in piles that I would get back to at some point. Yet that never did happen and what I was left with was a headache of shifting through receipts, manuals, recipes and other misc items that have collected over the years. This was extremely eye opening. I have too much stuff.

Prior to this point I had started to listen to The Minimalist’s podcast with the intention to learn more about the movement and maybe try and see if I could apply some of their principles to my own life. Until this point, I had not taken the step to do anything to pair down my stuff. The thought was there, but no real action.
After the debacle of trying to find important tax information, I realized it’s time. It’s time to get rid of what I do not need. There is too much clutter and to be honest there is no practical need for any of this stuff. So its time to remove it from my life.
How am I going to achieve this?
A little at a time.
The first step was starting to add items to my Ebay store. Today I added a couple of items to my shop and plan on adding a little at a time. The whole premise of this shop is basically an online thrift store. Everything is listed at auction starting at $.99 and all I ask is that the buyer covers shipping. All the profit from this store will go directly back into running this blog.
The second step is pairing down my craft supplies. I have been on Etsy from practically the beginning. My first store was ANiemanCrochet and that has now transitioned into ANiemanDesign which has allowed me to expand my offerings to more than just crocheted items. Since I have had these 2 shops I have accrued a large inventory of craft supplies, most of which have been sitting in my craft room for years. It is time for all the supplies I will not be using in the next couple months to go.
Over the next couple weeks I will be listing these items in both shops and hopefully someone will find something that they will get more use out of that I will.
Please check out my Facebook page for updates on these listings, as well as my Pinterest and Instagram!
I would also LOVE to hear your feedback! Please feel free to comment on this blog, Facebook etc!
Have a Nice Day!
